Muskerry Local History Society is based in Ballincollig-Ovens and surrounding areas. Ballincollig Heritage Association merged with Muskerry Local History Society in 2013.

Lectures are held monthly from September/October to May in the Rugby Club, Tanner Park, Ballincollig.

The society publishes a bi-annual history journal, Times Past, Journal of Muskerry Local History Society. The next edition will be published in November, 2016.

In our crest, the Barrett crest is overlain by the deer insert and topped by the lion to signify bravery. The Barrett family was associated with Ballincollig Castle and the history of the area.
